Diederik Veelo

Diederik was born in 1978 in The Hague. Aged 18, Diederik moved to Amsterdam to fulfill his dreams of working in the film industry. He started as a runner on critically acclaimed film L’avventura and soon found himself working as a freelance video assistant. He was the first video assistant operator to start working with a digital hard disk recorder in the Netherlands, and continued doing so for eight more years, after which he decided it was time for the next challenge and started working as an Editing Assistant on the feature film ‘Kees de Jongen’.

After that, he assisted on ‘Deuce Bigalow’ and worked as first editor on the Dutch police series ‘Boks’. He loved editing but his passion for visual effects grew as well, and he found a job at Valkieser Capital Images where he was able to continue editing whilst working as a visual effects editor at the same time. He was instrumental in setting up Valkieser’s first low-cost Shake compositing stations.

Next Diederik set himself a new challenge as Visual Effects Producer at the Ambassadors and recently co-founded the new tech innovation area of the business, The LAB, responsible for creating and developing the cube-based archive and share system Cube.
