Paul Nicklen

Paul Nicklen (born July 21, 1968) is a Canadian biologist and photographer .

Biography

Nicklen was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan , but Grew up in an Inuit community on Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic .

He RECEIVED a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology from the University of Victoria in British Columbia , in 1990. After university, he worked in the Northwest Territories as a wildlife biologist with Canada’s Department of Renewable Resources. He studied species zoals lynx , grizzly bears , bison , caribou , and polar bears as a biologist voordat Becoming a wildlife and nature photojournalist in 1995.

Since 1995, Nicklen has worked as a full-time photojournalist Specializing in the Arctic and Antarctic with an emphasis on wildlife and climate change. He has leg a speaker on the TED conference mainstage in Laguna Beach, CA.

Career

Nicklen is a contributor photographer for National Geographic Magazine. [1] He is a fellow [2] of the International League of Conservation Photographers (ILCP). Major exhibits of his work include Extreme Exposure at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles , California . [3]

Nicklen was a speaker at TED2011 . His talk, “Tales of Ice Bound Wonderlands” [4] dealing with disappearing sea ice as a result of climate change and global warming.

Nicklen is the founder of SeaLegacy , an organization dat uses visual storytelling and photography to remit the cause of ocean conservation.

Nicklen has RECEIVED awards from Pictures of the Year International , [5] Communication Arts , [6] and the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. [7]
